Chrystal Gomes

Chrystal Gomes - Stand Up Comedian

In the last ten years since Chrystal began performing stand-up comedy, she has been booked by the likes of Heffron Talent International (Charlotte, North Carolina), numerous Charitable Organizations (including various Multiple Sclerosis Society Divisions & Chapters in Canada and the United States), Community Associations, Conference Organizers, Corporations, Social Clubs, Seniors’ and Self-Help Groups, etc….with many repeat invitations from Clients.  She has performed stand-up comedy and/or delivered motivational speeches about living with Multiple Sclerosis, in the United States - Miami ( Florida ), New York City ( New York ), Knoxville ( Tennessee ); in Canada - Nanaimo ( British Columbia ), Vancouver ( British Columbia ), Halifax ( Nova Scotia ), Gimli ( Manitoba ), and throughout Ontario . Chrystal has been featured on CH-TV, Salt & Light TV, CBC, TVO, COGECO, CFMT, CKLN 88.1FM Radio, Culture.ca and other media outlets. She has also been written about in such publications as The Toronto Star, MS Canada, MS Ontario, MSIF.org, MS Bulletin, Culture.ca, The Catholic Register, India Today, Can-India Weekly, GOA-Herald and Goan Voice Canada.  Chrystal’s presentations are no longer just about comedy, as healing as laughter is.  Her message is one of self-empowerment.  Her talks are about hearing beyond the noise, sifting through the nonsense, trusting one’s own instincts, accepting one’s own truths and travelling through life with less baggage. They are about altering one’s perspective in order to be able to look backward at the past with peace and gratitude…look forward into the future with excitement and hope…and live consciously in the present with faith, joy and strength - with laughter as the common thread throughout. Chrystal’s performances have been described as humorous, eloquent and inspiring.  Her style is clever, witty and leaning towards deadpan.  Although Chrystal does not swear or use crude language, she does hint at things and absolutely loves the use of double entendres…which sometimes leads to a naughty word being used in an innocent circumstance, or a nice-and-clean word being used in a somewhat spicy context.  Chrystal regards and respects all equally, bearing no ill will towards anyone of differing gender/upbringing/culture/race/religion/sexual orientation/occupation, etc. but, she acknowledges that nothing is sacred in comedy, and hopefully all audiences embrace this credo as well.  Chrystal is the “victim” in many of her jokes, but since life is not all about her…neither is all of her material.  All her jokes are delivered in good humour with the pure and simple intent of spreading the feeling of well-being that humour and laughter create.

They say that everyone has something and so Chrystal has concluded that we all need healing of some sort.  She trusts in the healing, invigorating and empowering powers of humour and laughter for she has reaped their many benefits in her own life time and time again.  Chrystal’s dream/mission is to continue entertaining and leaving audiences with a healing and uplifting message of hope, strength and self-empowerment.
